The BRCC Student Ambassadors is a service organization that works with various departments to promote the image of the college and maintain relationships with former, current, and future students. The Ambassadors assist with campus and community events including commencement campus tours, alumni events, and more. The organization also serves to develop leadership abilities, to cultivate friendship, and to encourage participation in college-sponsored activities and community services projects.
Ambassadors must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the fall and spring semester. Ambassadors’ class and work schedules must be flexible enough to allow them to regularly attend meetings, to routinely give campus tours as needed, and to participate in events and the planning of those events. A linked sample of events can be found here. Ambassadors who complete consecutive fall and spring semesters in good standing are eligible to serve an additional fall and spring semester.
Ambassadors is a scholarship organization. This scholarship may be awarded to eligible students even if tuition is already paid by other types of financial aid, and any amount exceeding the amount of tuition and fees may be used for qualifying educational expenses such as books, supplies, housing, food, utilities, and transportation. Applicants must submit the following to be considered: an essay discussing an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a personal growth and a new understanding of yourself and others, a resume’ that demonstrates school and community involvement, and two letters of recommendation (at least 1 of them from a teacher/counselor). Finalists will be interviewed by a panel to select the recipients. Final recipients will be required to sign a participation agreement and a scholarship contract in order to accept the award.
