What is a “Financial Aid Refund”?
Students whose financial aid is greater than the cost of their BRCC tuition, fees, and books (where applicable), will receive the overage of these funds. This includes any grants, scholarships, or student or parent loans that remain after all BRCC charges for the semester have been satisfied.
Timeline:
Financial aid refunds are issued on the following approximate schedule. Because a variety of factors can influence timing, we are not able to provide a specific date. Financial aid refunds cannot be issued until after all student attendance/participation is verified and financial aid packages are adjusted to the enrollment that is “locked in” after the last day to drop a full-term session. Students can expect this to take place by the dates listed on the table below:
Fall | Spring | Summer | |
Full-Term Students | Mid-October | Mid-March | Mid-June |
Students taking only later starting classes * | Late November | Late April | Late July |
Second Half of Single-Term Loans ** | Mid-November | Mid-April | Late July |
* Students who have a combination of courses that start at the beginning of the term and later start classes will receive financial aid disbursements when full-term students receive them. Note that dropping later-starting classes after receiving a refund may result in a balance owed.
** Students who have a single-term loan will receive the first disbursement on the full-term financial aid time line and the second disbursement in the final third of the term.
Important Information and Conditions:
- Your financial aid is initially based on full-time attendance, which is 12 or more credit hours per semester. Many types of financial aid are prorated if you are enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours. To see how your financial aid may be recalculated based on your current enrollment, visit the SIS Tile in MyBRCC.
- If you drop or withdraw from a course or never attend a course (or courses) for which you are registered, your financial aid may be adjusted or cancelled.
- Enrollment changes that take place after financial aid has been disbursed may result in a balance owed to the College.
- Only courses that meet a requirement for your current aid-eligible program of study are eligible for financial aid.
- You may sign up for direct deposit to receive your refund. If you do not, a check will be mailed to the address on file in SIS.
