How to Apply
Federal and State Financial Aid: Apply for financial aid by completing and submitting the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate aid year. Processing will take one to two weeks. Please note: the FAFSA is a FREE resource offered by the U.S. Department of Education. You are NEVER required to pay to complete a FAFSA. Many illegitimate sites will look like they are affiliated with FAFSA but try to charge you to file. If you need assistance filing the FAFSA, please contact us for help!
State Financial Aid for Students Ineligible to file the FAFSA: Virginia students who are ineligible to complete the FAFSA because of immigration or citizenship status may be able to complete the Virginia Alternative State Application (VASA).
BRCC Scholarships: Complete your BRCC Scholarships application each year by May 15th.
When to Apply
You can apply as soon as October 1 of the year prior to the aid year that you are planning to attend. We recommend applying no later than March 15th in the spring prior to your enrollment, which will give you the best chance to be considered for all available federal and state grants. However, we will continue to process the FAFSA for students who apply after the priority deadline.
* Due to delays related to the implementation of the 2024-2025 FAFSA, BRCC has extended our priority filing deadline to May 15th for the 2024-2025 FAFSA.
Reapplication Process
Students reapply for financial aid every year to be considered for aid. The amount of financial aid may vary from year to year, depending on the student’s eligibility, as well as federal and state funding allocations.
