2025 Speakers
Keynote Speaker – Andy Vanhook

Visionary Storyteller, Community Advocate, and Haircare Enthusiast
Andy Vanhook knows the power of stories—how they shape us, connect us, and move us forward. As co-founder and Imaginative Producer at Appeal Production, Andy has spent over two decades crafting narratives that help businesses, organizations, and individuals share their missions with the world. His work has taken him from the Shenandoah Valley to Central America and across the U.S., earning awards and recognition that prove he’s not just “making videos in the basement,” as his mom once feared.
But Andy’s story doesn’t stop there. A proud graduate of Mountain Empire Community College and Radford University, Andy knows firsthand the transformative power of education. His journey—from the mountains of Virginia to building a thriving creative business—is proof that success comes from embracing challenges and moving forward boldly (and from learning to laugh at yourself along the way).
Beyond his professional life, Andy is a tireless advocate for his community. Whether coaching aspiring entrepreneurs, chairing the board of the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, or convincing nationally recognized speakers that the Shenandoah Valley is the place to be, Andy embodies the belief that leadership is about lifting others. In recognition of his efforts, he was honored with the Spirit of Philanthropy Award in 2024.
Student Speaker – Fernando Sagastume

Fernando will be receiving his Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration from BRCC and is transferring to James Madison University’s College of Business this fall.
A Harrisonburg resident, Fernando has been engaged with his community since middle school, when he first became involved with On the Road Collaborative. The non-profit organization focuses on empowering the next generation by providing educational opportunities and hands-on career experiences. Fernando currently serves as a member of the On the Road Collaborative Board of Directors. He is also on the recruitment and retention subcommittee of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), which supports students with college readiness skills. Fernando benefited from their assistance while a student at Harrisonburg High School and enjoys advocating for the program.
Fernando is the Chief Administrative Officer of his family’s business, Highest Roofing, where he manages the day-to-day operations of the company. He is also a member of BRCC’s Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society chapter and was recently recognized as a member of the PTK All-Virginia Academic Team.
