Do you love all things science? Interested in what it takes to make vaccines and other modern biologic drugs? Come learn about Biomanufacturing! Through this free camp, students will learn the techniques involved in making some of our most complex and useful drugs.
Biomanufacturing is a type of manufacturing or biotechnology that uses living organisms and cells to produce molecules or other biological materials for making products such as medicine, food and beverages, and other industrial applications. From bacterial cell culture to purification and analysis of protein products, students will get an incredible hands-on experience in BRCC’s new, state of the art facility!

This camp is being offered free of charge as part of a Commonwealth of Virginia special appropriation to BRCC and JMU to help build a talent pipeline for Merck and other Shenandoah Valley biotechnology manufacturers. Youth camps will be offered to raise awareness of the Biotechnology certificates and degrees, to help increase enrollments at these higher-ed institutions.
