Emergency Management

The Public Safety Office assists the BRCC community in planning for emergencies by establishing procedures, and outlining responsibilities that are necessary to effectively respond to an emergency. Public Safety coordinates the College’s response to emergencies, provides support to emergency response personnel, and manages administrative procedures related to emergency response and recover. This function also administers the BRCC Alert emergency messaging system. Emergency Guides are made available to BRCC faculty, staff, and students to provide guidance and best practices in the event of an emergency.

Public Safety staff are responsible for a variety of areas, including:

  • Preventing emergencies from occurring on campus by recommending modifications to facilities, activities, and procedures.
  • Preparing the College to respond and recover from emergencies through training, exercises, planning, and outreach activities.
  • Responding to events that occur on campus and helping to coordinate response activities through the Emergency Operations Group and external partners.
  • Assisting the College in recovering from crisis using established plans and procedures to resume operations as quickly as possible and provide support to those impacted by the event.
