Copyright Procedure

Blue Ridge Community College expects employees and students to comply with the United States Copyright Act (Title 17, United States Code). Specifically:

  1. Copyrighted materials should not be duplicated, adapted, distributed, publicly performed, or publicly displayed without written consent of the copyright owner except as permitted under the fair use exemption.
  2. Any use of copyrighted materials under the fair use exemption should follow the guidelines as stated in the Fair Use Guidelines for Educational Multimedia (Conference on Fair Use), the Agreement on Guidelines for Classroom Copying in Not-for-Profit Institutions (Notes on Title 17, Section 107), or Limitations on exclusive rights: Exemption of certain performances and displays (Title 17, Sec. 110 and Notes, as appropriate.
  3. Copyrighted materials used within the fair use guidelines above must be limited in access to students enrolled in courses at Blue Ridge Community College.

Reporting Copyright Infringements
